FH 36S - Staved Back

High performance, professional quality lever harp for discerning players.

With a full five octaves, starting and ending on C, the FH36 S - Staved Soundbox - has an ideal range for a full-size lever harp. The all-solid-wood construction brings a stunning amount of depth, power, responsiveness and articulation to the characteristic bright and clear Dusty Strings sound. These harps are truly an impressive piece of fine woodworking and a satisfying investment for any professional harp player or harp enthusiast.

The soundboard features solid Honduras mahogany in the mid and upper ranges and spruce in the bass, overlaid with book-matched figures hardwood veneer and bordered with purfling and edge binding.

The sides and back of the FH36 S - Staved Soundbox model consists of five facets of book-matched wood. This design puts a flat facet, rather than a corner, against the player's shoulder, which some find more comfortable and which makes it easier to reach the lower strings. This soundbox shape, as opposed to the rectangular soundbox of the FH36 B, gives an overall more rounded sound, with a slightly fuller bass voice.

The choice of wood makes a distinctive contribution to the overall sound of the harp. See each individual harp below for a description of the wood's particular properties.

  • Internal Pick Up: Using four carefully placed piezo pickup elements connected to a central rod, the Dusty Harp Pickup achieves a clean, focused, natural and lush sound. The pickup is discreetly mounted inside the soundbox of the harp, invisible to the audience. A single jack mounted on the back of the harp connects straight into a guitar amp or PA, making for true plug and play ease of use. The Internal Pick Up can be supplied pre-fitted, or can be retro-fitted by anyone with a basic grasp of DIY. Internal Pick Up for FH36 S: £250. Pre-fitted Internal Pick-Up: £340

  • AMT Harp Microphone: With electronics tailored to the harp’s unique acoustics, the AMT Harp Microphone is a high-end professional-quality tool, delivering true studio-quality sound for live performance. The completely detachable Harp Microphone attaches to the back of the soundbox by gently gripping the edges of one of the soundholes. Unlike a microphone on a stand, the Harp Microphone moves with your harp as you reposition it or tilt it back to play, keeping your sound consistent. Its also discreet, out of your way and out of the audience’s view. £480

  • Choice of Black Finish: Dusty Strings FH 34 and FH 36 models now also come in a high quality silk black finish. Make your choice of wood based on the tonal qualities you desire and Dusty Strings will then finish the harp in black for you. £300

  • Choice of Levers: All Dusty Strings harps are supplied with high quality Loveland levers as standard. However, new FH34 and FH36 models can be ordered with either Camac or Delacour levers. Camac Levers: £500. Delacour Levers: £1000.

  • Gut Strings: FH36 Harps are supplied with nylon strings as standard. Gut strings can be supplied to order. £250
